LITERACY*AMERICORPS - SAN DIEGO: An Opportunity to Serve
If you are looking for a rewarding opportunity that can provide memories for a lifetime, then becoming a Literacy*AmeriCorps member is the right choice for you!
Literacy*AmeriCorps - San Diego County is an eleven month, national service program hiring full-time (1700 hours) members for the 2009-2010 program year. We are putting together a fun and diverse team of Literacy*AmeriCorps members who will teach adult, family, and youth literacy and ESL to San Diego residents most in need.
In addition, Literacy*AmeriCorps members will engage in:
- Improving the lives of area San Diegans who are faced with the difficult challenge of illiteracy
- Volunteer recruitment and retention activities
- Serving countywide nonprofits, libraries, community colleges and alternative education programs
Our mission is to build community through education and civic engagement.
Literacy*AmeriCorps members receive:
- $11,400 stipend
- $4,725 education award (to go towards tuition or student loans)
- Health care benefits for full time members
- Year-long training
For more information and application instructions, please contact Kimberly Moore, Literacy*AmeriCorps Manager at (619) 574-1641 x104 or kmoore@literacysandiego.org.
