Our Mission:
The San Diego Council on Literacy provides resources and leadership to support and build the Literacy Network in new and existing literacy efforts.
The primary goals of the Council on Literacy are to:
- Coordinate the development and distribution of resources to support literacy programs.
- Assist in the formation and growth of literacy programs.
- Increase public awareness and access to literacy programs and their services.
- Foster cooperation and communication among organizations interested in improving literacy.
- Serve in a leadership and advocacy role for shaping legislation to address literacy issues.
- Establish partnerships with public and private institutions and individuals to better utilize community resources.
- Inform the local, state, and national communities of the significance and impact of literacy.
