An estimated 7,000 walkers and runners converged on Balboa Park and scenic State Route 163 on May 5-6, 2007, for The Union-Tribune Race for Literacy and Kids Magic Mile.

The Health Literacy Project

 

With funding from Kaiser Permanente, The San Diego Council on Literacy, in partnership with the Community Health Improvement Partners, launched and completed the first phase of its Health Literacy Project.

This project lays the foundation for future efforts that help literacy programs address the health needs of their students, while improving the health care community's ability to serve clients who may be adversely affected by obstacles related to low-level literacy, cultural differences or language differences.
