This performance of Literacy Night at the Theatre is dedicated to preventing “summer slide” in San Diego during summer 2017.
What is “summer slide?”
It is the tendency for students, especially those from low-income families, to lose the reading skills they gained during the previous school year. This is a big threat for the 60% of low-income families who have little to no access to books in the home.
San Diego Council on Literacy is raising funds to provide more books to low-income families with children enrolled in grades TK through 2nd grade across San Diego County before summer 2017. Our goal is to distribute 7,000 new books.

FINDING NEVERLAND directed by visionary Tony® Award winner Diane Paulus, tells the incredible story behind one of the world’s most beloved characters: Peter Pan.
Playwright J.M. Barrie struggles to find inspiration until he meets four young brothers and their beautiful widowed mother. Spellbound by the boys’ enchanting make-believe adventures, he sets out to write a play that will astound London theatergoers. With a little bit of pixie dust and a lot of faith, Barrie takes this monumental leap, leaving his old world behind for Neverland where nothing is impossible and the wonder of childhood lasts forever. The magic of Barrie’s classic tale springs spectacularly to life in this heartwarming theatrical event.
Rating: All Ages.
